The 19th Annual IDEAL Gala

Thank you for supporting the Gala!

Thanks to everyone who helped us to move our world as we celebrated our 18th Annual Gala on Tuesday, February 27. The Gala brought together more than 350 community members and honored the work of four groups of people who were instrumental in finding, securing, and constructing our new building at 5 Hanover Square. Through our raffle, silent and live auctions, donations, and hand-raise to finish outfitting our therapy suites, we have already raised over $360,000 for our school.

We are grateful to the very special guests who helped make the evening a success: Veteran Broadway artist Gayle Turner, Emmy award-winning television host, on-air lifestyle expert, and media coach Marisa Brahney, and auctioneer Nicole Sales Giles, a VP at Christie’s. Thanks also to Upper School music teacher Will Simbol and the Class of 2024 for their exciting performance of "Careless Whisper" by George Michael. Thanks also to our Lower and Upper School art teachers, Maria Papas and Megan Roper, and their students for making Wizard of Oz-themed table numbers, and to students and staff in the Next Steps Transition Program for donating their handmade candles for centerpieces.

The second song that Ms. Turner performed
was 'Home' from The Wiz, and the lyrics,
'When I think of home, I think of a place;
Where there's love overflowing,'
resonated with me as I thought about our new home,
and how there’s truly no place like it."
–Head of School Janet Wolfe

Alexander Gorlin and Quncie Williams of Alexander Gorlin Architects came to the stage to share their vision for our new building at 5 Hanover Square. They provided our guests with a model of our space and a preview of three interior design renderings. We are looking forward to opening school in our new building in September 2023.

Having so many IDEAL parents step up to work on our Gala Committee this year was wonderful and incredibly helpful. Led by Christine Mickletz, we were able to add sub-committees to help divide and share the massive amount of work that goes into planning and sourcing prizes. Each member should be proud of their contributions. Thank you, Elizabeth Brizzolara, Liana Burdman, Brady and Sammi Clifford, Lucy Guinness, Grace Kaynor, Rachel and Rob McQueen, Larissa Regala and Matt Sloan, Cate LaFarge Summers, Meredith Summerville, Fernando Torres, and Yolanda Wyns, as well as Margaret Conklin, Wilmaris De La Cruz, and Joseph Kemp from our staff.

Our Board of Trustees made tremendous contributions to ensure the success of our event, and I am deeply grateful to IDEAL’s Board President, Jay Eisenhofer, Advancement Committee Chair Tracy Nixon, and IDEAL Co-Founder and Secretary Audra Zuckerman for their support in many ways.

The entire IDEAL family thanks you, our friends, for making IDEAL’s 19th Annual Gala a success and for sharing in our joy. Your support, as always, will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.
