School Closures

Procedure for snow days and other school closures

  1. On the first day of inclement weather, IDEAL generally follows the decision of the New York City public school system, unless the Head of School determines otherwise. 
     
  2. On subsequent days, IDEAL will decide whether school will be in session and will post a message on the school's website, Facebook, and Twitter by 6 AM.
     
  3. Additional communication channels:
    • Families will receive an email announcing school closures.
    • Families that have opted-in to our text messaging service will receive a text message.
    • To opt-in, you must send a text to 22300 with the word, “Alert.”  This will allow you to receive text messages with important school updates. To opt out of the text message alerts at any time you can simply text “Stop” to 22300.
       
  4. In the event of a school closure, all after-school and evening events will be canceled. Evening events will be rescheduled. Consult our website or contact the relevant administrative offices for rescheduling information.
