The IDEAL School of Manhattan is excited to once again partner with Heidi Latsky Dance, a New York-based, female-run organization dedicated to the creation of relevant, immersive performance art that celebrates diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity. Thanks to IDEAL parent Rebecca Alson-Milkman for bringing this partnership to our school and to Heidi Latsky for inviting a group of IDEAL High School students to participate in On Display Global.
On Display Global (ODG) is Heidi Latsky Dance’s initiative honoring the United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Each year, on December 3 and crossing all time zones, local leaders from communities around the world coordinate live, human sculpture courts in their cities. This celebration began in 2015 with only two sites and has grown to over 100 sites. We are honored to be chosen as one of the sites for the 2021 performance, a 24-hour event broadcasting live on Zoom.
Over the coming weeks, Ms. Latsky will work with ten students and two teachers as they create what will be our own live sculpture garden. Associate teachers Free Estrin and Jess Kogan have volunteered to coordinate the project at IDEAL.
