On Thursday, Lower School held its Celebration of Black Culture assembly  in the gym. Fourth and fifth grade opened the event, showcasing their drumming skills as they played African rhythms led by Ms. Hernandez. Mx. Estrin gave a presentation on Black History Month that touched on Black culture and representation and the Word of the Month, Activism. Four Upper School students gave presentations on aspects of Black culture. Jason spoke about sports, Paul covered music and dance, Kassim talked about entertainment, and Faith spoke about art. Each High School presenter also read a poem, one of which was Faith’s original work. The assembly concluded with students sharing their favorite parts of the assembly and singing the school song.
