Advisory

Every Middle and High School student is a member of an advisory group, and every advisory group is led by two faculty members who support the academic, social, and emotional growth of the individuals and the group as a whole. Advisory groups gather briefly in scheduled times at the beginning and end of each day to touch base and to strengthen the sense of community and to prepare for the day or homework ahead. Advisory groups also meet once a week in a longer block for guided discussions on topics related to friendship, advocacy, and growth mindset. It is the role of the advisor to know each student as an individual and as a learner and to support the academic and personal growth of their advisees on a daily basis and in more strategic ways over the course of the year. The advisor serves as the first point of contact and as a partner for parents so that the school and families act in concert to support each child in achieving his or her full potential.
