Pillars of IDEAL

Pillars Of Ideal

Diversity at IDEAL is both broad and deep. The school includes boys and girls of various races, ethnicities, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Within these groups, we seek a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and academic readiness. We aspire to be the most diverse and inclusive school in the city of New York. Inclusion and diversity lead to acceptance. Acceptance and academic rigor lead to excellence.

At IDEAL we are committed to excellence for every child and our model of inclusion works. Statewide testing scores indicate that IDEAL students outperform their public school peers in both math and reading. Notably, results demonstrate that IDEAL has eliminated the subject-mastery disparity by race and ethnicity that exists in New York public schools. Further, as an independent school we have the flexibility to adapt our curriculum to the needs of our students, the ability to keep student-to-teacher ratios low, and a commitment to innovative, 21st Century pedagogy. All of this ensures our students will leave IDEAL prepared to be leaders in their communities.

Diversity. Acceptance. Excellence. These three pillars underpin The IDEAL School’s mission and are at the fore of all aspects of school life.
