Overview

The IDEAL School is dedicated to building a community based on the principles of diversity, acceptance, and excellence. Through our admissions process, we seek students and families that share our commitment to these core values and who believe an inclusive, social justice education is the best way to develop creative students who are critical thinkers, global citizens, and proud individuals within a diverse community.

We believe an individualized education is paramount to academic success. This includes teaching in collaborative teams, keeping class sizes small, identifying each student’s learning style, and differentiating instruction to accommodate all learners. Our content-rich curriculum, focus on cooperative learning, unique elective program, and partnerships with cultural institutions ensure each child receives a strong conceptual framework and problem-solving skills.

At IDEAL, students learn to be valued members of their community. Knowing schools are most effective when families are involved in their children’s education, we also foster strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and caregivers. We embrace diversity in children and their families and our students have varying socioeconomic backgrounds, family structures, cultures, races, religions, and abilities. We are dedicated to creating a community that reflects the composition of greater New York City.
