Open Door Scholarship Fund

Children who learn together learn to live together. This principle is at the core of the mission of The IDEAL School, the only inclusive, independent, kindergarten to 8th grade school in New York City. IDEAL has created a student community that reflects the rich diversity of New York and we seek partners to support this effort by funding a scholarship for a child in need.
The Open Door Scholarship Fund provides access to an independent school education for students who are most marginalized by New York City’s educational system. In order to be able to invest meaningfully in expanding the program and continuing to meet the needs of our diverse student body, it is critical that we find partners to help fund scholarships for our students who are most at risk.
The tuition for IDEAL’s Standard Program is $34,800 for the 2011-2012 school year. Forty-three percent of IDEAL students receive tuition assistance, and the average financial aid award is 85% of tuition. This represents an investment of nearly $2,000,000 annually, or 42% of the school’s gross revenue. Through our Open Door Scholarship Fund, we seek to continue and extend our outreach.
Every dollar donated to the Open Door Scholarship Fund goes directly toward the tuition of students from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds. Because of the generosity of donors, our Open Door Scholars are thriving academically and socially. Please join us in our mission to provide those students who are most marginalized access to an education at The IDEAL School.
