The creative arts are an integral part of the teaching and learning experience at IDEAL. Our goal is to celebrate and enhance each student’s innate creative talent, and through our robust arts curriculum students learn to take healthy risks as they explore multiple perspectives. Our vibrant arts curriculum is integrated throughout all disciplines and permeates our school culture. The skills students acquire in the arts strengthen their learning in all subjects, and the creative arts department supports other academic areas through cross-curricular units and collaborations.

Beginning in kindergarten, Lower School students receive instruction in visual arts and music. In Upper School, students choose the areas they wish to continue to pursue and refine. Our creative arts courses in Upper School range from studio art and fashion design, to vocal music (both small groups and larger ensembles), contemporary music production, music theory and composition, and specialized drama offerings. Trips to museums and theaters extend classroom experiences.
